July ended on a high with 7 of the MEC squad racing run Melbourne and finishing with 5 pb's.
10k Event
Shri Vasudeva was coming off her post IM debut in Cairns this year with a different focus. A last minute entry on request from the coach as a form finder over 10k. 42min 12sec later and pb shows Shri is well on track for a strong season ahead.
Half Marathon
Adrian Polidano led the charge as he prepares for the Alice Springs Marathon later this month. A 1hr 21min run that had him 5th in his age group shows he is moving well.
Andy White tried his legs out in his Kona prep. A 1hr 27min was a strong run mid training block with under 12 weeks until he makes his debut on the Big Island.
Travis Hill wanted to spend 2017 focusing on his running. Run Melbourne was a stepping stone towards Melbourne Marathon and a pb of 1hr 40min on Sunday (18min quicker than what he ran 3 years ago) is right where we want him on the last stretch towards October.
David Lloyd continues to impress with yet another pb at the tender age of 55 knocking out a 1hr 46min. David will also be up in Alice Spring competing in the Marathon later in the month.
It can be hard for racers to dial things down but Talia Goddard followed coaches orders for a easy start and strong finish coming home 6min quicker for the back half of her run than the first half. Some good things to come from Talia over the 17/18 season.
Finally our little warrior Kathy Delos Santos after being sick the week leading into the race managed a pb coming in 2hr 07min. A great effort and sign of her improvements ahead of her half ironman debut later in the year.
Well done to the crew on a strong weekend.
