Showing the diversity of the athletes in MEC we had athletes lining up for the Melbourne Marathon, 70.3 Hefei and the Great Ocean Road Cycle Challenge.

Jeff Beavis went around for his second consecutive week (Around the Bay last week) and again found the winds were up to challenge the riders in the Great Ocean Road Cycle Challenge. Jeff has made huge improvements with his health after a severe bike crash last year. He is certainly building back up to full speed.

David Lloyd took on the Melbourne Marathon and whilst the strong winds meant that the stage was not set for a pb, David showed that a strong consistent 2016 of training has enabled him to get through his first IM, recover and enjoy life then knock out a marathon. He got through the day so well in fact that he was feeling good enough to send the coach a message saying he really didn't feel too bad after his efforts. Impressive for a 55yr old.

Angelo Bonacci travelled to China to compete in the inaugural 70.3 event. Angelo has been working away diligently over the winter and it showed with a 10min pb over the 70.3 distance which collected him a 2017 70.3 World Championship spot. Angelo is developing into a well rounded triathlete.

Well done gents on your great individual performances
