Gatorade Race 3 Elwood
Angelo Bonacci continued to show consistent work is rewarded with improvement with a 5th place finish in the 35-39 A/G. After a solid January he came storming home after a strong swim/bike on the run narrowly missing the 20min barrier (20min 01sec) which is a 5k run pb and done off the bike.
Christine Seymour has recently started working with MEC and has already shown some great sign of improvement. Christine had a strong all round race and finished 8 minutes quicker than her time on the same course last year.
Kathy Delos Santos has gone from strength to strength over this season. After successfully completing her first Olympic distance event a few weeks ago, Kathy got through the race comfortably and finished strong. Big improvements for this young lady who is working towards goals later this year.
David Lloyd got back racing after enjoying a successful Ballarat race at the end of last year. After 12 months working with MEC for 12months now, David is still producing personal best time in his 50’s. David had a strong and smart first race back and is all grins with his goal races ahead later in the year.
Albany Sufferfest
It was a family affair over in Albany Sufferfest for the Janssens.
Aleasha Janssen made her triathlon race debut lining up for the enticer event. Aleasha got through comfortably and gains more confidence for future events. Well done Aleasha.
Anthony Janssen (AJ) made his return to triathlon racing after a hiatus. After a few months back in the swing and training consistently he started the Olympic distance event. AJ had a strong comeback race finishing 4th in his age group and from his report, most importantly ahead of his sister Sam. Good old sibling rivalry. Plenty of work for AJ ahead to get him to his goals and he is looking forward to it.
Sam Janssen made good work of the course and managed a 2nd place in her age group in the Olympic distance event. As a great swim / runner we are gradually bringing that bike up to speed for Sam after which she will be even more competitive.
