Another excellent weekend has come and gone for the MEC athletes across 2 events.
Taupo Cycle Challenge
David Lloyd made the trek across the ditch to take on the 160k Taupo cycle challenge. An event to savor and enjoy for the backdrop, David had a strong ride as he builds into his second season. David has covered a lot of ground in the last 12months and is gaining more enthusiasm as he continues to make improvements.
Gatorade Race 1
Elwood hosted the first race of the Gatorade series in Victoria. The grey skies didn't deter both Les Toth and Kathy Cabreros DSantos from donning the new MEC kit for the sprint distance Tri.
Les put together a great race in Shepparton 2 weeks ago reaching his 'A' target of the year breaking the 5hr barrier. Les used the fitness from the longer distance to string together a strong race on the back of the 2nd fastest bike split of the day in his age group. Les is chipping away with the swim and run and these are making there way down in time also.
Kathy needs to be acknowledged for her resilience. 3 weeks ago the choppy swim conditions left the tri mum with a bitter taste after not finishing the full swim course. This is Kathy's first year in the sport and she is a great example to others starting out that while it may not all be easy, if you keep showing up the results will come. Well done on completing your first open water tri Kathy. The first of much more to come.
