It was a long weekend of racing and with only 3 athletes we almost hit a total of 50hrs of racing.

Monica Liston is back in the groove of training and making full use of her base in South East Queensland hit the Cooly Classic Ocean Swim on the weekend. Now a 10k open water veteran, Mon got through the 3k course in good shape adding to a good training day as we roll onto bigger milestones in 2018.

Chris White and John Winterburn have had their eyes on the Ultraman race for the last 6 months. They finally got to make the trek north to Noosa and got underway on Saturday morning with the 10k swim followed by 145k on the bike for day one. Both got through the first day in great shape and ready for the big 2 days ahead.

Day 2 and the 280km ride was near incident free apart from Chris having a flat tyre whilst descending at 70km/h. He managed to keep the bike up right and a quick change had him underway again. John had a great day in the saddle and rode exactly to plan coming in just under 9hrs. Chris finished up 10mins behind and again both were in relatively good shape by the end of day 2.

Heading into the final day both boys were confident in their abilities to get the job done coming from strong running backgrounds. Chris had a 7hr 15min mark plan to run to and executed to near perfection stopping the clock in 7hrs 08mins and 3rd runner across the line. Johns race plan was to run 8hrs 30mins and he too showed his experience and training by coming in to finish 8hrs 27mins.

In final standings from 48 starters Chris cracked the top 10 finishing 7th overall and John was not far behind in 15th place. A huge effort from the boys and their respective support crews and family.
