At yesterdays Alice Springs Running Festival there was a fantastic turnout by the local Aboriginal running group , the Yipiryinya Runners. Congratulations to you all on participating and finishing events from 5k up to 21.1km. It was great to see so many out on course and being a positive influence on their community. We very much look forward to continuing our support of the Yipiryinya for years to come.
Momentum Endurance Coaching had two athletes make the trek to Central Australia and both were champing at the bit as they both lined up for the Marathon.
Adrian Polidano showed his experience over the marathon distance letting a pack of 3 runners go ahead and put time in to him early in the run. Adrian stuck to his plan and by 31km had run into 3rd position and by 37km into 2nd. A smart race that saw him cross the finish line in 2nd place in 3hr 01min showing that there is still plenty of life in the legs and arms yet. Well done Adrian
David Lloyd seems to have improved nearly every time he has set foot on the racing track over the past 10months. David sat down with his coach last year and took on the advice that has paid massive dividends for David. 'Slow down your easy sessions' was the advice and as David will no doubt attest it was a painfully slow process to begin with.
From 12months ago and adopting a smarter way of training David at the tender age of 55yrs ran a 25min personal best stopping the clock in 3hrs 54min for the marathon. David's improvement is certainly no accident and he should be congratulated for his approach to training and improving.
A big congratulations to Chris White of GoRun Australia on completing his 11th of 17 marathons for 2017. All the best for last 6 Chris.
The Australian racing season is looming and we are very much looking forward to seeing more great results from our athletes over the coming months.
